Damascus, SANA – A political symposium entitled “Geopolitical dimensions of war on Syria”, organized by Ahfad Ishtar institution, was held at Damascus University Conferences Center with the participation of the French researchers Alain Korvis and Richard Labeviere.
Researcher Alain highlighted the escalating geopolitical conflict in the world as well as the Syrian crisis which shadowed all spectrums of Syrian people, noting that the US and its allies are no longer the leaders of the world and the cessation of financial and military support to terrorists is the only way to reach solution to what is happening in Syria .
He added that President Bashar al-Assad is a brilliant leader who knows how to manage the crisis and reach a political solution, not to mention his magnificent discourse.
The researcher stated that his visit to Syria is to make clear that France’s policy towards Syria and the whole world doesn’t reflect the public sentiment, adding that organizing such conferences and lectures in France, Germany and other states aimed at illustrating the reality of the current circumstances taking place in the country and the accompanying misleading information circulated by some media outlets.
He stressed the need to keep the French media on the right path regarding the attitude towards Syria and establish relations with other states on the basis of cooperation and mutual respect.
In turn, researcher Labeviere said that there is a regional and international war in Syria led by the US, the Arab Gulf states and the Israeli entity, adding that the current visit to Syria expresses solidarity with the Syrian people and stresses the warm friendship between the Syrian and French peoples, indicating that the French public opinion, contrary to the French government, supports Syria and the Palestinian cause.
He underlined the importance of the Syrian army’s victories against terrorist organizations and its ability to defeat terrorists and restore security and stability to Aleppo.
Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban said that the data presented by the two researchers provides an evidence on that in France and the Western world, there are free people who defend states’ rights and sovereignty and the people’s right to self-determination, and who reject the policies of their governments which brought destruction, suffering and devastation to Syrian people.
She added that the terrorist war on Syria has exposed all lies about free media, particularly in the West where media outlets followed their governments and lost their reputation, credibility, neutrality and faith in freedom and democracy.
Shaaban questioned Europe’s role towards the events in the world and the Middle East, especially France and Britain which were the spearhead in the war against Syria and provided support to the US scheme which proved to be destructive in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya.
The attendees called for holding an international conference to confront terrorism in Damascus with the participation of lawyers and analysts from Syria and other countries in order to put pressure on countries which fund terrorism and encourage dialogue to strengthen understanding and rebuild the homeland.
