Lavrov, Kerry discuss situation in Syria

Moscow, SANA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed in a phone call with US State Secretary John Kerry on Saturday the situation in Syria and the possibility of resolving the situation in Aleppo.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two sides discussed the possibility of restoring the situation in Aleppo to normal, despite the refusal of terrorist groups there to stop fighting and the refusal of so-called “moderate opposition” groups to distance themselves from Jabhat al-Nusra.

The statement noted that Lavrov stressed to Kerry that the attempts of the West-backed “opposition” to be lenient with Jabhat al-Nusra are unacceptable.
