Higher Council for Economic and Social Planning sets out priorities for implementing 2017 budget

Damascus, SANA-The Higher Council for Economic and Social Planning set out the priorities for the implementation of the 2017 budget.

The budget’s priorities include supporting the Syrian Arab Army in facing terrorism, meeting the requirements of the martyrs and wounded families and the needs of citizens, and activating the agricultural and industrial production process to support the advancement and continuation of the development process.

For the implementation of the Ministry of Industry’s plan to revitalize the industrial sector and reactivate the production wheel, the Council recommended for around SYP 17 billion as approbations with an increase of SYP 10 billion from last year. The Council also recommended the approbations of the Agriculture Ministry at SYP 15.3 billion to offer the requirements of the agriculture development.

In the field of agriculture, the government’s statement focused on increasing agricultural production and improving the ability of producers to promote, protect and develop the livestock and poultry sector and the provision of agricultural production supplies, and supporting domestic agriculture.

In the industrial field, the statement focused on supporting companies and enhancing cooperation and coordination with the chambers of industry to find out the actual reality of the private sector companies and to identify the difficulties faced by it.
