Water Resources Ministry, UNICEF discuss enhancing cooperation in sanitation and drinking water

Damascus, SANA- Water Resources Minister Nabil al-Hassan discussed on Thursday with Hanaa Sanjar, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Resident Representative in Syria means to enhance cooperation between the two sides, mainly in the fields of rehabilitation and equipping of wells and providing the requirements for sanitation and drinking water sectors.

The minister affirmed the importance of building mutual trust between the two sides to overcome all the difficulties and upgrading work which will reflect positively on the reality of water, pointing out to the need to strengthen the existing facilities and projects by providing the necessary generating sets and pumps and to focus on priorities and urgent needs.

For her part, Sanjar said that work of the UNICEF is humanitarian in the first place, adding that the projects and programs implemented by UNICEF in cooperation with the ministry are going well.

She stressed the keenness of two sides to communicate and coordinate continuously in order to identify the needs and meet them in accordance with the available possibilities.
