Iran calls on Turkey to stop military intervention in Syria soon

Tehran, SANA Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi expressed on Tuesday concern over the continuation of Turkey’s military intervention in Syria,
calling on the Turkish army to stop its military operations in Syria as soon as possible.

Qassemi underlined in a statement on Tuesday the need for respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Despite the fact that fighting terrorism and trying to establish security and stability in the region is an important and firm principle sought by peace-loving nations of the region, it should not justify violation of countries’ sovereignty, he said.

The Iranian diplomat added that adopting approaches that defy the political authority of a county’s central government is not acceptable.

He pointed out that the continuation of the presence of Turkey on the Syrian land will lead to further complication of the situation in the region.

Qassemi said that the spread of conflict in north of Syria will lead to the killing of more innocent people, stressing that the Turkish army must immediately put an end to its operations in Syria.
