Damascus, SANA – Ministry of Social Affairs and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) signed on Thursday a memo of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the fields of technical support, capability building and development, financing and carrying out social care and social empowerment programs.
The MoU also aims at boosting cooperation in supporting the most vulnerable social categories and starting programs for improving living conditions and helping people affected by the crisis, in addition to other various activities in the social and relief work sectors.
Minister of Social Affairs Rima al-Qadiri clarified that the first step of this cooperation will concentrate on work to rehabilitate the social services centers affiliated to the Ministry according to the national needs which were discussed with the agency.
For his part, Nagi Khalil, head of ADRA mission in Syria said that signing this memo with the Social Affairs Ministry would play an important role in strengthening cooperation and partnership with it.
He expressed hope that the practical steps towards implementing the memo will start in the coming days.
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency is a global humanitarian organization operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the purpose of providing individual and community development and disaster relief. It works within communities in more than 130 countries to bring long-term development programs and immediate emergency relief.
