Tehran, SANA- Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Amir Abdullahian discussed in a phone call with the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura the latest political developments in Syria.
According to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), Abdullahian described de Mistura’s efforts to support a political solution for the crisis in Syria as important.
He criticized the presence of terrorist figures in Geneva talks and their attempt to participate in the talks.
Abdullahian affirmed the importance of sending humanitarian aid to all Syrian areas, mainly to the locals of Kafraya and al-Foua towns which are besieged by the terrorist organizations.
For his part, de Mistura appreciated the efforts made by Iran to counter terrorism and its support for a political settlement of the crisis, adding that despite all the challenges, talks will continue.
De Mistura gave a brief review of what was discussed in Geneva, noting that the UN seeks to send humanitarian aid to Syria.
