Moscow, SANA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday that Russia doesn’t back the federalization of Syria and the Syrian people are the only ones who determine their country’s future.
During a joint press conference in Moscow with Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui, Lavrov stressed that the intra-Syrian dialogue in Geneva should include all the Syrian political parties.
He pointed out that the radical statements of some parties participating in the intra-Syrian dialogue do not help reaching a political settlement to the crisis in Syria, saying that these statements should take into account the interests of all parties.
” We are relieved over carrying out the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria in spite of some breaches.” Lavrov said.
For his part, Jhinaoui appreciated Russia’s role in carrying out the cessation of hostilities agreement and in launching the Syrian- Syrian dialogue in Geneva, hoping this dialogue will lead to a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
” Terrorism is an international phenomenon and fighting it requires collaboration of all countries’ efforts.” Jhinaoui said .
