UN Security Council condemns terrorist bombings in Homs and Damascus Countryside

Damascus, SANA- The two brutal terrorist bombings in Homs and Damascus countryside on Sunday brought a wide condemnations from different countries and figures around the world.

UNSC condemns the terrorist bombings 

UN Security Council (UNSC) strongly condemned the terrorist bombings that hit last Sunday al-Sayyeda Zeinab area in Damascus Countryside and al-Zahra Neighborhood in Homs city, claiming the lives of at least 130 people.

The UNSC also called for resuming the inter-Syrian dialogue in Geneva as soon as possible.

On Monday, The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry sent two identical letters to the UN Secretary-General and the head of the Security Council on the terrorist bombings, demanding that the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General condemn these terrorist crimes immediately and sternly, in addition to demanding that UNSC take immediate deterrent and punitive measures against the states that support and fund terrorism, particularly Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

More than 130 civilians were killed and hundreds were injured including a large number of children and women in a series of terrorist attacks that targeted al-Sayyeda Zainab city in Damascus Countryside and al-Zahra neighborhood in Homs City last Sunday.

Spain

Spain condemns bombings 
The Spanish government vehemently condemned the terrorist bombings, that hit last Sunday al-Sayyeda Zeinab area in Damascus Countryside and al-Zahra Neighborhood in Homs city claiming the lives of at least 130 people, expressing condolence the families of the victims.
The Spanish Foreign Ministry said, In a statement, that the Spanish government hopes that all those responsible for such heinous crimes would be brought to justice as soon as possible, stressing the need for continuing the efforts of international cooperation to combat the terrorist organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and eliminating its criminal atrocities.
The Spanish government renewed call for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria and its support to the efforts exerted by the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura in this regard, urging all sides to implement the cessation of fighting actions in the country except operations carried out against the groups designated by the UN as terrorists as well as facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas.

Argentina 

Argentina condemns deadly blasts
The Argentinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship condemned the deadly bombings perpetrated by ISIS in Homs and Damascus Countryside, offering condolences to families of the victims.

The Ministry said, in a statement, that Argentina renews its sincere desire to boost counterterrorism and the international security and peace in the framework of respecting the international law and the human rights.

It also expressed support to the UN’s and the international community’s efforts to consolidate the mechanisms related to the cessation of the fighting actions in Syria as to facilitate the inter-Syrian dialogue.

Chile

Chilean Government condemns .. couldn’t be justified in any way

The Chilean Government strongly condemned the terrorist bombings which hit al-Sayyeda Zainab city in Damascus Countryside and al-Zahra residential neighborhood in Homs City last Sunday, expressing deep condolences to the families of the innocent victims.

In a statement published on its website, the Chilean Government said that these terrorist attacks couldn’t be justified in any way, and that there shouldn’t be any place for any form of terrorism practiced by the terrorist organizations which are affiliated to al-Qaeda.

The Chilean Government stressed that these coward acts will hinder the efforts exerted by the international community to reach a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria led by the Syrian people without any foreign dictations, hailing the deep-rooted historic relations binding Syria and Chile.

Iraq

Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemned on Tuesday the criminal terrorist bombings  which took place last Sunday in Damascus Countryside and Homs, extending its deepest  condolences and sympathy to the brotherly Syrian people, particularly the families of the  martyrs.

“The terrorist groups’ determination on targeting holy areas and civilian neighborhoods is an evidence of their ideological anomaly, lack of basic human values and deviation from the values of all divine religions, as well as, their clear and despicable goals of sowing division between peoples of the region.” The ministry said in a statement.

The ministry called on the need for exerting more efforts for bringing peace to Syria, away from international interest and regional wills, in a way that would secure the security, dignity of the Syrian people and spare Syria the scourge of war and destruction.

UN Secretary General condemns

In New York, the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, condemned the terrorist bombing attacks which committed by ISIS in al-Sayyida Zeinab town in Damascus Countryside and Homs city on Sunday and claimed the lives of tens of citizens.

“Those responsible for these atrocious and deliberate attacks on civilians must be held accountable.” Ban said on a statement on Monday.

The Secretary General extends his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured, the statement posted at the UN website read.

Egypt

Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Monday strongly condemned the terrorist bombings which claimed dozens of lives in in Damascus Countryside and Homs, expressing sincere sorrow and offering condolences to the families of the victims.

Spokesperson of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Abu Zaid, said in a statement, SANA got a copy, that “Egypt unequivocally condemns all acts of terrorism and calls upon the international community to intensify efforts to put an end to this phenomenon.”

Russia

Russian MFA  condemns and urges the international community to properly respond

Earlier, in Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry vehemently condemned the terrorist attacks that hit Homs and Damascus countryside and urged the international community to properly respond to these attacks.
“Moscow strongly condemns the inhumane attacks of terrorists. We are offering our sincere condolences to the families of the dead and are wishing the soonest recovery to the injured. We are confident that such disgusting and criminal acts require an appropriate principled reaction of the international community,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

“It is important to thwart attempts of the attempts of ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist groups to escalate tensions inside and around Syria by further instigation of inter-confessional feud,” the Ministry added said.

“The cruel crimes of the extremists aim at intimidating the civilian population and undermining attempts to achieve lasting political settlement of the Syria crisis in the interests of all Syrians and efforts to stop violence and bloodshed,” the Ministry stated.

Iran

Terrorist bombings in Syria target innocent people and political solution

In Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hussain Jaberi Ansari vehemently condemned  the terrorist bombings that rocked Homs city and al-Sayyida Zeinab Sunday, claiming lives of dozens.

In a press conference held Monday, Jaberi Ansari said that these terrorist atrocities target the innocent and seek to foil any political process that serve the Syrian people, stressing that the terrorist organizations do not need a political solution to the crisis in Syria but rather they work on igniting the situation every time a political solution looms.
He clarified that the success of the political process in Syria requires the firm and serious confrontation of terrorism and the elimination of terrorists because they do not want any solution to the crisis in Syria.

New York

UN envoy strongly condemns bombings in Damascus and Homs

Meanwhile, the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura has strongly condemned bombings in two Syrian cities on Sunday that resulted in more than 100 people killed or injured, including children.

In a statement attributable to his spokesperson, the UN envoy, de Mistura, condemned “yet another set of car bomb and suicide explosions in Damascus and Homs cities which killed and injured today over 100 people, including children.”

De Mistura said in the statement that ISIS claimed responsibility for the “terrorist acts.”

United States 

US condemns terrorist attacks in Homs and Damascus Countryside

The US State Department strongly condemned the barbaric terrorist attacks which took place in Damascus and Homs in Syria on Sunday, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded and expressing condolences over the victims.

The US Deputy Department Spokesperson Mark C. Toner said in a statement on Monday that “ISIS terrorism has targeted innocent people from around the world: from Damascus and Baghdad to Paris, Brussels, and Ankara. It will take a united and global effort to destroy this terrorist organization.”

Czech 

Czech Foreign Ministry condemns terrorist bombings in Homs and Damascus Countryside

The Czech Foreign Ministry condemned the terrorist bombings which took place on Sunday in al-Sayyida Zeinab town in Damascus Countryside and in Homs city.

The ministry expressed in a statement via twitter on Monday its deep condolences to the martyrs’ families.
