Geneva, SANA – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov reasserted that “Jaish al-Islam” (Islam Army) is a terrorist organization, and should not be part of the opposition delegation to the Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva.
In a statement to TASS news agency upon his arrival at Geneva, Gatilov said that Russia has always said that Jaish al-Islam is a terrorist organization and it should not be among the delegation members, adding that it’s up to UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura to take the decision regarding this matter.
He also said that Russia hopes the meetings in Geneva will help launch a political settlement process in Syria.
