Moscow, SANA- Russian President’s Special Representative, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Thursday that a broad representation of political and social parties from the Syrian government and opposition should take part in Geneva talks.
“Everyone should read, with respect and understanding, UN Security Council Resolution no. 2254 which stipulates the opposition delegation must be comprehensive and includes Riyadh, Moscow ,Cairo meetings and others which were held inside and outside Syria, therefore we seek to have the largest representation of different parties,” Bogdanov added at an interview with SANA reporter in Moscow that
He hoped all countries would realize that they bear part of responsibility as the crisis in Syria arrived the track a political settlement, pointing out to the need for the Syrians to unite their efforts in combating terrorism represented by the Islamic State ( ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra organizations.
In turn, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said that Moscow opposes the participation of “Jiash al-Islam and Ahrar al-Sham” in Geneva talks as they are terrorist organizations.
Gatilov added that Moscow and Washington have agreed that talks would be incomplete without the representation of Syrian Kurds.
