New York, SANA – President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman said that the Syrian government is facing today a wide front of extremist forces including ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra organizations.
Zeman added in a statement to reporters on the sidelines of his participation in the activities of the 70th session of UN General Assembly that the opposition which is recognized by the European Union doesn’t have fighting forces on the ground because militants have been swallowed by the extremist groups.
In reply to a question whether President Bashar al-Assad is a part of the solution, Zeman wondered if there is another alternative nominee, adding that there is no such candidate and it is necessary to ask whether there is an alternative.
During his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem in New York on Tuesday evening, Zeman stressed the Czech Republic’s position in support of the Syrian people and the legitimate Syrian government, and conveyed his greetings to President al-Assad.
