Damascus, SANA – Minister of State for Environment Affairs Nazira Serkis said that Syria has carried out all obligations and fulfilled commitments related to disposing of ozone depleting substances (ODS).
During a workshop on Wednesday on occasion of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, Serkis said that this success does not imply that work in this field is over, as all sides should unify efforts on national, regional, and international levels to dispose of all materials that could harm the ozone layer.
She also called for organizing more campaigns to raise awareness on environment-friendly alternatives to ODS, highlighting that work in the next phase – both nationally and globally – will focus on research to find more alternatives and provide them at competitive prices.
