Education minister affirms ministry’s commitment to strengthen relations with UNESCO

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Education Hazwan al-Waz, who chairs the Syrian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, affirmed on Monday the ministry’s commitment to strengthen cooperation relations between national authorities related to education, science and culture and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

During his meeting with Dr. Hamed Bin Seif al-Hammami, Director of UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab countries, Minister al-Waz expressed hope to expand cooperation with UNESCO and its regional offices, particularly with regards to integrating people with disabilities in the educational process.

Al-Waz reviewed the damage sustained by the education sector due to terrorist attacks, hailing the ministry’s efforts for the education process to move ahead unhindered.

For his part, Dr. al-Hammami said that all the plans and programs which the organization is carrying out in Syria in cooperation with Education Ministry are in progress, noting that UNESCO is ready to develop cooperation and support a number of current and future projects in Syria.
