Syria, Iran discuss boosting health cooperation

Tehran, SANA Health Minister Dr. Nizar Yazigi discussed Monday with his Iranian counterpart Seyyed Hassan Hashemi means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the health and medical sector between Syria and Iran and mechanisms of supporting this sector in Syria.

Cooperation in the medical field, medicine industry and in ensuring the requirement of the health and medical sector enhances the resilience of the Syrian people who have suffered FROM the terror of the terrorist groups and the unfair siege imposed on them, Yazigi, who is in a current visit to Tehran, said.

 

The Minister pointed out that bilateral cooperation in the field of generic drugs
industry, installing productive lines for them and training and qualifying cadres supports the health sector in Syria.

He thanked Iran for supporting the Syrian people in confronting the war waged against their country.

Iranian Health Minister, in turn, expressed his Ministry’s readiness to offer all requirements of the health and medical sector in Syria including medicine and medical equipment, particularly in field of the medical services, producing various kinds of medicines and the scientific and academic rehabilitation in order to enhance the resilience of the Syrian people.

In a joint press conference, the two Ministers renewed firm determination to serious work and cooperation to meet the needs of health sector in Syria.

Minister Yazigi, also, discussed with Iranian Head of Food and Medicines Organization Rasoul Dinarvand and members of the Iranian Unions and various medicine companies means of enhancing cooperation in the medical field.

Last May, Syria and Iran signed a number of agreements in the investment, health, electricity and industry fields.

The agreement in the health sector between the two sides provided for continuing supply of medicines and the medical equipment of the hospitals related to the health and the higher education sectors and the medical services department in the Interior Ministry.
