Petroleum Minister: Gasoline available in sufficient quantities

Damascus, SANA- Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Suleiman al-Abbas affirmed on Monday that gasoline is available in sufficient quantities and the overcrowding in some gas stations in Damascus is caused by citizens’ concerns over rumored gasoline shortages, since some use the substance to run electricity generators, particularly during the current heat wave.

Al- Abbas pointed out in a statement to SANA that the Ministry increased the amount of gasoline allocated to Damascus province by around 15%, adding that more than 30% of car owners wait in line at gas stations to fill their cars with only 10 to 15 liters, which contributed to the overcrowding.

He said that two new gas stations were opened in al-Jalaa and Kafar Souseh areas, and a third will be opened soon in the Industrial City, which should contribute to reducing overcrowdings in the future, calling citizens to report on any cases of fraud in gas stations.
