Damascus, SANA – Upon directives from President Bashar al-Assad, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Defense Minister Gen. Fahd Jassem al-Freij conducted a field visit to an army unit in the southern region on occasion of the 70th anniversary of establishing the Syrian Arab Army.
Accompanied by General Command officers, al-Freij inspected the readiness of the unit and the morale of the soldiers, wishing them success in carrying out their duties and in their fight against terrorism.
The Minister was briefed by field commanders on the nature of the operations they are conducted.
On a relevant note, the Armed Forces marked the anniversary by organizing activities in various locations and facilities, with unit commanders delivering speeches in which they spoke of the history of the Syrian Arab Army and pledged to continue fighting until security and stability are restored to all of Syria.
Also on this occasion, military commanders visited the cemeteries and placed flowers on the memorials in them, and the Veterans Association marked the occasion as well.
