Moscow, SANA-Special representative of the Russian President, Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov discussed with grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun the latest developments in Syria.
“Bogdanov met Mufti Hassoun who arrived in Moscow today to take part in a meeting for the Strategic Vision Group-Russia and the Islamic world,” Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, adding that the two sides exchanged viewpoints on the development of situation in Syria and the region.
The statement affirmed the importance of the immediate launching of a wide, comprehensive dialogue among the Syrians according to Geneva communiqué of June 2012.
In another statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Bogdanov also met Rima al-Qadri, Chairwoman of the International Cooperation and Planning in Syria.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the situation in Syria and the need for conducting an immediate political settlement to the crisis in Syria to restore peace and security to the country.
