Hama, SANA – Over 206,000 children between the ages of 7 months and five years were vaccinated against measles in the central province of Hama.
Those included 24,079 children under 1 year who were given measles vaccines and 182,413 other children aged between 1 and 5 years, who were given the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccines, 58,22 children leaked from the previous routine campaigns according to the Director of Hama Health Department, Amer Sultan.
The campaign coincided with a catch-up immunization schedule for children who missed shots during previous vaccination campaigns.
This was carried out in the framework of a national 12-day anti-measles vaccination campaign which ended on 30th Apriil.
The campaign, which was organized by the Health Ministry in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), targeted about 2,670,937 children all over Syria.
