Damascus, SANA- The first forum of associations for people with disabilities, which was held Thursday by Ministry of Social Affairs, discussed means to offer the best services for people with disabilities and iron out the difficulties facing them.
Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Kinda al-Shammat called for exerting efforts to offer social services for people with disabilities under the current conditions which, she said, had delayed the execution of a relevant plan and hampered the efforts to cater to the needs of this social category.
The bodies affiliated to the ministry should coordinate efforts when an area sees emergency cases of displacement to provide the needed psychological support for people with disabilities if found.
The Cabinet had approved the draft law on disability which seeks to keep pace with any contingencies prompted by the current crisis, the minister added.
The participants in the forum stressed that the national plan for rehabilitating people with disabilities aims to tap into their energy in the sustainable development of Syria.
