Syrian-Iraqi talks to settle the situation of Syrian community in Iraq

Baghdad, SANA- Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah discussed with Iraqi Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed al-Asadi ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of settling the situation of the Syrian community in Iraq.

Al-Dandah pointed out in a statement to SANA reporter in Baghdad that the meeting emphasized the depth and importance of fraternal ties and relations, strengthening them, and the common challenges facing the two countries, as well as enhancing cooperation and coordination to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

Al-Dandah noted that the prospects of cooperation were discussed regarding the affairs of the Syrian community and resolving the problems of violators of the Iraqi residency conditions through simplified procedures and reducing fees and fines on violators after the settlement decision was issued and dealing with the entry of Syrian workers through Erbil and granting them a settlement through a legal period until the end of this year to settle their legal status and obtain regular residency and grant them entry visas on the principle of reciprocity.

In turn, al-Asadi stressed that Iraq stands with Syria, government and people, reiterating his country’s aspirations for finding appropriate solutions to ensure the granting of regular residencies to the Syrian community.

Al-Asadi noted the importance of organizing expatriate workers and settling their status legally.
