Tehran, SANA-The funeral ceremony of the martyr Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions began Wednesday at the University of Tehran, in the presence of regional and international delegations.
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in and around the university squares to participate in the funeral ceremony, where Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamene is due to lead prayers for Raisi and his companions, including foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian before they were being moved from Tehran University to Azadi Square.
Last night, a farewell ceremony for the late president and his companions was held in Mosalla Mosque of Tehran in the presence of a large crowd of the people of the capital, and this evening a memorial ceremony will be held in Tehran in the presence of officials and delegations, while the body of the martyr Raisi will be farewelled on Thursday morning in South Khorasan, and then he will be buried Thursday evening in Mashhad.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and their companions were martyred last Sunday, after the helicopter they were carrying in crashed in Varzakan region of East Azerbaijan province.
