Damascus, SANA-Minister of Information ,Boutros Al-Hallaq ,affirmed that the new Information Ministry law that replaced the one issued in 1961 constitutes a starting point for developing the national media sector in general by setting up foundations for modernization in the current media institutional structures, and to be an effective incubator for achieving the Ministry’s mission of producing media committed to the comprehensive national identity.
Minister al-Hallaq told Syria TV Channel that the new law allows media sector institutions to be an element of diversifying national income, and a component of national economic activities.
He added that at the level of the ministry’s work, this law comes to develop the work of all its directorates and introduce new tasks for them in comparison with the law issued in 1961. For example, some articles of the law included organizing the tasks of most directorates, such as the Electronic Media Directorate, in order to be able to enhance national digital content on the network. Al-Hallaq pointed out that the new law organized the supervision of the television drama industry, and also provided room for cooperation and participation with the private sector for media and drama production, documentaries, and others, stressing that this law formed a basic building block for the development of this important national sector.
