Damascus, SANA- The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus celebrated on Sunday the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran at the Damascus-based Dama Rose Hotel.
In a speech during the ceremony, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, extended congratulations to the Iranian people and the Iranian leadership.
Mikdad stressed that the relations between Syria and Iran cannot be separated because they are defending the liberation of the land, the restoration of rights, and the expulsion of every foreign occupier from their land.
He noted that relations between the two countries have been strengthened during the mutual visits of the presidents of the two countries and through bilateral agreements, the fruits of which we will reap during the coming period.
Mikdad said that the Islamic Revolution in Iran stood by Syria in its struggle against terrorism and for the sake of liberating the occupied Arab lands, including the occupied Syrian Golan, and continues to affirm its firm support for the Syrian people, regardless of the challenges and conspiracies.
The Foreign Minister added that Syria is fighting alongside the Palestinian people and is being exposed to aggression from the United States of America and the Zionist entity because it stands with truth and justice and with the Palestinian people in their struggle.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian expressed his happiness at commemorating the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution during his presence in Damascus, the historical and cultural capital, stressing that Iranian-Syrian relations are witnessing acceleration and progress in various fields.
In turn, Iranian Ambassador Hossein Akbari said that the relations between the two countries are historic, and they have a common destiny, adding that his country will continue to stand by the Syrian government and people and that it is ready to provide assistance at all levels, especially the political and economic ones.
He added that his country supports Syria’s sovereignty over all its lands and condemns the illegal presence of foreign forces, and also condemns the Israeli attacks on it.
According to the Iranian Ambassador, the priority in Iran’s foreign policy is to strengthen relations with its neighbors, respect their national sovereignty, and provide peace and stability in the region.
Akbari said that the conspiracies carried out by Zionism and the forces of arrogance recently to sow sedition and internal wars in Islamic and Arab countries are aimed at diverting public opinion from the Palestinian cause.
In a statement to reporters, Special Advisor to the Republic’s Presidency, Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, said that celebrating the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution expresses the strength and depth of relations binding the two countries which have been built on principles and foundations and the interest of the two peoples and the two countries.
In a similar statement, Prime Minister Hussein Arnous stressed that today relations between Syria and Iran are rapidly developing in the economic fields and are being followed up on by both sides.
