World Council of Churches calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

Abuja, SANA- The World Council of Churches has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and opening the humanitarian corridors.

“We call for peace and justice and for stopping the seemingly endless cycle of violence and suffering, we also warn of the consequences of horrific, long-term trauma that will affect children,” Palestinian Wafa Agency quoted Council’s Executive Committee as saying in a statement during a meeting in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

The statement added “We underscored the necessity to respect human dignity, human rights, and the principles of international humanitarian law.”

The committee called for ensuring distribution and delivery of vital humanitarian aid without obstacles, including water, food, medical supplies, fuel, electricity and internet services.
