Brussels, SANA-European Commission announced that the crisis in Ukraine and the financial and military aid provided to it have depleted the European Union budget.
The Commission noted on its page on the website that the conflict in Ukraine and inflation are depleting the EU’s long-term budget reserves, indicating that the EU needs more money to be able to respond to the crisis.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the Commission had reviewed the EU budget for the period from 2024 to 2027 and called on countries to increase it by 66 billion Euros to help Ukraine, implement migration programs, help refugees and boost the EU’s competitiveness.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has called the proposal “trivial” because it is not known where the money given to Ukraine before that went.
