Damascus, SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad , said that the resilience of Syrian and Iranian people in the face of western conspiracies is heroic that reflects support of both people to their leaderships and the brave policies both countries are following.
“We have discussed challenges to which Syria and Iran are exposed, and the continuation of the long-term hostile policies by Washington and the West against us, particularly investing in terrorism in order to achieve known-to-all political purposes,” Mikdad said at a press conference Wednesday with Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, following their talks in Damascus.
“We have also reviewed the situation in Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan, and affirmed the importance of resilience of the Palestinian people and Golan citizens and the inevitability of their victory over the brutal practices of the Israeli occupation on a daily basis,” Mikdad said.
He added that both sides discussed, in details, the most important international developments, the latest of which is the expansion of BRICS group which boosts the multi-polarity as the only way for problems in today’s world.
On the U.S. military presence on the borders with Iraq, Mikdad said that the aim of the military mobilization is pressure on the Syrian State to abandon its stances, a matter that will not be met.
“Iraq has stressed that it will not allow anyone to launch any aggression on Syria from its territory, and we appreciate this stance and are confident that it will not allow the U.S., nor its alleged alliance, to affect the Syrian-Iraqi relations,” Mikdad said.
The Syrian Foreign Minister said the Turkish forces should withdraw from the Syrian territory in order to restore relations to normal.
Iranian Foreign Minister, Abdollahian, for his part, affirmed that his country strongly condemns the Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, the latest of which is the aggression on Aleppo International Airport.
“We have held long and constructive discussions with Prime Minister and Mr. Mikdad around bilateral relations and international issues,” Abdollahian said.
He added that the two sides discussed combating terrorism and the American actions to re-organize the terrorist groups, and the US forces’ illegitimate presence on Syrian territory on the pretext of fighting terrorism.
“We are keen on offering support to Syria, as leadership, people and army till reaching stability of situation and progress,” Abdollahian said.
He added that establishing relations between Syria and Turkey, based on good neighborhood and respect for Syria’s sovereignty, creates a positive environment in the region.
Abdollahian stressed that the quartet meetings among Syria, Russia, Iran and Turkey have proposed positive ideas about respect for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
