Mikdad, AOAD discuss means to boost cooperation in agricultural sector

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, affirmed the need for integration between governmental agencies and expert Arab agricultural organizations along with strengthening joint Arab action.

That came during a meeting brought together Director General of AOAD, Ibrahim al-Dukhairi, AOAD Executive Chairman, the Lebanese Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Hajj Hassan, Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Mohammad Hassan Qatana, and the Director-General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands (ACSAD), Nasr Edin Obaid.

Mikdad stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in the agricultural sector between Syria and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and setting action plans to develop the agricultural reality and raise the level of performance of the agricultural sector in all Arab countries.

Al-Dukhairi, in turn, stressed that the organization is working within the Agriculture Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030 focusing on agricultural and food systems, protecting agricultural resources and enabling work between the organization and member states.

Al-Dukhairi pointed out that the organization will support the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Syria to protect its integrated environmental stock from fires through fire early warning.

Minister Qatana said that al-Dukhairi’s visit will contribute to conveying the difficulties Syria faces to the member states and the world.

Minister Hajj Hassan expressed his appreciation for all the efforts made by Syria to enhance agricultural and food cooperation between Syria and Lebanon, as well as the interaction among Arab countries to reach a common vision to achieve Arab food security.
