Syria, Iraq ink air services’ agreement

Damascus, SANA- Syria and Iraq signed air services agreement so that the two countries follow the latest developments in air transport in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

In the same context, Minister of Transport, Zuhair Khuzaym discussed with Head of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, Imad Abd al-Razzaq Abd al-Ali enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries and creating new opportunities in the field of air transport that serve the common interests.

During the meeting held at the Ministry building on Tuesday, Minister Khuzaym stressed the importance of solidarity and mutual cooperation between Iraq and Syria to further promote air navigation services, enhance safety, security, facilitate air cargo and share expertise between the two countries, hailing Iraq’s firm support to Syria during the blockade and the war against it.

For his part, Head of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority clarified that Iraq exerted every effort to enhance air traffic and increase the number of flights and passengers between the two countries, recognizing Syria’s significance as a key external destination for Iraq.

Additionally, he underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between Syria and Iraq in order to achieve mutual economic, social and commercial development.
