12 relief planes arrive at the airports of Damascus, Lattakia and Aleppo on Monday

Damascus, Lattakia, SANA-12 planes carrying aid for those affected by the earthquake that jolted Syria, provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, Russia and Iran, arrived on Monday at the airports of Damascus, Lattakia and Aleppo.

SANA’s reporter stated that a plane landed at Damascus International Airport on Monday morning coming from the UAE with relief materials provided by the World Health Organization to help those affected by the earthquake.

The plane was carrying 33 tons of first-aid medical supplies and hospital equipment, according to the Acting Representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, Dr. Iman Shanqiti.

Shanqiti said that it is the second WHO aid plane to arrive at Damascus International Airport since the earthquake struck, and it was preceded by a plane which landed at Aleppo International Airport.

She added that aid that arrived in the three planes amounted to 128 tons of relief materials.

Three Emirati planes also arrived at Damascus Airport, the first carrying 86 tons and 380 kg of medical and food relief materials and blankets, the second carrying 30 tons and 740 kg of relief materials and food, and the third carrying 23 tons and 170 kg of foodstuffs, mattresses, beds and blankets for those affected by the earthquake.

An Omani plane carrying 13 tons of food aid for those affected by the earthquake also arrived at Damascus Airport.

A Russian aid plane carrying 19 tons of medical and food items for children, winter clothes, blankets and tents also arrived in Damascus, according to Roslav Markov, director of the consular section at the Russian embassy in Damascus.

Meanwhile, two UAE planes carrying relief supplies arrived at Lattakia International Airport, according to the Director of Lattakia Airport, Eng. Ziyad al-Tawil, who indicated that the first plane was carrying 27.7 tons of foodstuffs, while the second plane was carrying 53 tons.

A Russian aid plane carrying 37 tons of food aid also arrived at the airport.

Two Emirati planes arrived at Aleppo International Airport, the first carrying 25.8 tons of humanitarian and relief material.

In the evening, an Iranian plane carrying 24 tons of food and medical supplies for the earthquake-affected people arrived.
