Holy Husseiniya threshold in Iraq sends an aid convoy to quake-affected people in Syria

Baghdad, SANA- The holy threshold of Husseiniya in Iraq has announced sending an aid convoy for the quake-affected people in Syria, stressing its full readiness to treat the cancer patients and the elderly who were affected by the earthquake in the hospitals of Karbala province.

“The holy threshold decided to treat those who were wounded in the quake, cancer patients and the elderly among Syrians at its expense”, Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted the supervisor of the Husseiniya holy threshold, Sheikh Abd al-Mahdi al-Karbalai as saying.

Al-Karbalai noted that efforts are ongoing to provide more aid for the brotherly people of Syria.

For his part, General Secretary of the Holy Threshold, Hassan Rashid Al-Abaiji said that several vehicles loaded with humanitarian and medical aid in addition to foodstuffs arrived at Lattakia province, noting that the first convoy was loaded with 1000 tons of various foodstuffs, mobile hospitals, medicines, as well as oil derivatives

In turn, Head of Health and Medical Education Authority at the Holy Threshold, Dr. Sattar al-Saadi, said that the work is underway to set up a field hospital, referring to the Syrian-Iraqi coordination in order to facilitate the procedures for the work of the mobile hospitals.
