Syria appeals to UN member states to help support Syrian efforts to face impacts of the destructive earthquake

Damascus, SANA-Syria has appealed to the UN member states and other international organizations to help support the efforts exerted by the Syrian government to face the impacts of the destructive earthquake that hit the country, expressing thanks and appreciation for the countries and organizations that showed solidarity.

“Syria on Monday, February 6th, witnessed a devastating earthquake of 7.7 magnitude that claimed the lives of hundreds of people and the injury of thousands, in addition to the collapse of tens of residential buildings,” Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement.

The statement added that Syria appeals to UN member countries, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organizations to help the efforts of the Syrian government to face that human catastrophe, particularly to rescue those who are still trapped under debris.
