In a phone call with President al-Assad, President Putin announces dispatching rescue teams and urgent assistance to Syria

Damascus, SANA-President Bashar al-Assad received on Monday a phone call from President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

President Putin offered condolence to the victims of the devastating earthquake on his behalf and on behalf of the Russian people, affirming Russia’s readiness to stand by the Syrian people in their ordeal.

He said that the Russian government decided to send rescue teams and urgent assistance in support of the Syrian government’s efforts to overcome the effects of that disaster.

President al-Assad thanked the Russian leadership for the initiative, considering that the Russian stance reflects the strength of the relations between peoples of the two countries as an extension to Russian support  provided to Syria in their joint war against  terrorism.
