Syria condemns riots in Brazil, affirms solidarity with elected government

Damascus, SANA-Syria has condemned the acts of riots perpetrated by subversive groups in Brazil, affirming its solidarity with the elected government led by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

“Syria condemns in the strongest terms the violence acts committed by rioters against governmental buildings in Brazil, and supports the steps and measures taken by the new President Lula to put an end to these acts, which completely contradict the values of democracy “, Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.

The ministry added that Syria calls for respecting the will of the Brazilian people under the leadership of President Lula, and affirms its solidarity with the elected government in Brazil.

On Sunday, rioters staged clashes with the police in the country’s capital of Brasilia and broke into the buildings of the National Congress (parliament), the presidential palace and the Supreme Court.
