Damascus, SANA-People’s Assembly discussed on Thursday the situation of the national economy and the factors that have affected it over the past years.
The Assembly during a regular session, chaired by Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh, listened to a brief by Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al-Khalil on an explanation about the general economic situation and, the terrorist war and the negative impacts of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people and the repercussions of the so-called “Caesar’s Act” and the pandemic of corona.
The Minister indicated that the previous reasons have badly affected agriculture, industry, investment, tourism and oil.
A number of MPs called for increasing support to the productive sectors, encouraging investment in the renewable energy field , improving the investment climate and attracting foreign investments.
They stressed the importance of working to restart the currently suspended battery factory and facilitating the procedures for importing solar panels and lighting supplies.
