Syria, Iraq to boost trade relations as trade volume hits $ 2.8 billion

Baghdad, SANA – Syria’s Ambassador to Iraq Sattam Jada’an al-Dandah discussed on Monday with Iraq’s Trade Minister Malas Mohammed Abdel-Karim means of enhancing commercial relations and increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

Minister Abdel-Karim said the exchange volume has reached at USD 2.800.000 billion despite the exceptional situation in the two countries, hoping that the volume of exchange would be bolstered after activating the economic cooperation agreement signed between both states in 2009.

For his part, ambassador al-Dandah said the Syrian-Iraqi economic relations are improving steadily, highlighting the importance of the Syrian companies’ commitment to meet the needs of the Iraqi market.
