Syria expresses solidarity with Cuba in facing Hurricane Ian

Damascus, SANA- Syria expressed confidence in Cuba’s capability and potentials to overcome the impacts of Hurricane Ian, reiterating the call for the need to lift the US unjust siege on the Cuban people to help them in overcoming the plights.

Syria expressed solidarity with the government and people of the friendly Republic of Cuba in facing Hurricane Ian, which left severe damage to public and private properties and the huge damage affected the infrastructures in it, a Foreign and Expatriates Ministry official source told SANA in a statement on Saturday.

The source added that Syria affirms its confidence in Cuba’s capability to overcome the effects of this catastrophe and announces its full support to the procedures and efforts exerted by the Cuban government to mitigate the devastating effects of the hurricane.

The source renewed Syria’s calls for lifting the US unjust blockade on the Cuban people to help them overcome the impacts of the devastating hurricane.

It expressed Syria’s deepest condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a quick recovery for the injured.

Hurricane Ian knocked out electricity in Cuba after it hit the country, more than 40 thousand people were evacuated from Pinar del Rio province and huge damage affected the electricity lines, the houses and facilities.
