SANA inks MoU with SCS on enhancing cooperation

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) and the Syrian Computer Society(SCS) signed a three-year memorandum of understanding automatically renewed to organize and enhance cooperation between the two bodies.

The memo stipulates on booking servers and providing expertise, specialized facilities, safeguard data, information security and cybersecurity, along with electronic services, training, advertising and media services.

According to the memo signed by SANA Director-General, Eyad Wannous and SCS Board Chairperson, Hassan al-Najjar, SANA is committed to offer advertising and media coverage for SCS in addition to promoting its activities, events, programs by mutual agreement.

For its part, SCS is committed to SANA by providing facilitations and services available through its infrastructure that can be invested in line with the joint projects, besides sharing human experiences available in support of these projects.

Wannous said that according to the memo, work will be done on absolutely vital level related to cybersecurity and data maintenance in the Agency, indicating that databases in any institution are of a national significance, and it is the responsibility of state bodies to protect them in all possible means.

SANA has a large size of data of historical and political value from various textual and illustrated media materials documenting historical stages of Syria’s modern and contemporary history, Wannous added.

Al-Najjar asserted the importance of SCS and SANA partnership in the digital transformation policy approved by the government 2020-2030 to contribute effectively to promoting process and support this informational aspect related to digital content and Syria’s own digital cultural heritage.
