Washington, SANA- Russian Embassy in Washington demanded on Wednesday to put an end to persecuting the Russian citizens in US, considering the charges against Head of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots of the US, Elena Branson, as part of a campaign against Moscow
“On March 8th, US Department of Justice indicted Head of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots of the US, regarding her alleged illegal activities as a foreign agent for Russia, and such allegations are outrageous and absolutely baseless,” Russian embassy was cited by Sputnik News Agency as saying in a statement.
The statement added that this came as a part of a large-scale campaign against Russia, considering that the persecution of Elena Branson as hostile act.
The embassy called for giving the Russian citizens the opportunity to speak their mother tongue freely, to maintain contact with their homeland, in addition to implementing cultural and historical projects, especially those linking the past of Russia and the US.
