Reception ceremony on anniversary of Independence Day of Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Damascus countryside, SANA- The embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Damascus held a reception ceremony on Saturday evening on the anniversary of Independence Day at the Pakistani Ambassador’s house in Yaafour area, Damascus countryside.

In a speech during the ceremony, Saeed Muhammad Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan in Damascus hailed his country’s struggle to gain the independence, after a long struggle against the British hegemony, in addition to the development which it has achieved since then in the fields of education, industry, science and technology.

The Pakistani Ambassador congratulated Syria and its people over the winning of President Bashar al-Assad in the Presidential election, expressing confidence that Syria will recover and regain its previous position in the world.

Saeed Muhammad Khan hailed the outstanding bilateral brotherly relations between his country and Syria, noting that the relations between both countries are deep-rooted and they enjoy the highest level of appreciation by both countries’ leaderships.

For his part, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari stressed the depth of historical friendship relations between both countries that serve both countries’ interests, indicating to Pakistan’s supporting stance to the Arab issues in general and to Syria in particular, as it has adopted a principled stance during the crisis in Syria with its non- acquiescence to the pressures, in addition to its rejection of the intervention in Syria’s internal affairs and the attempts to violate its sovereignty.

Al-Jaafari expressed Syria’s appreciation for the humanitarian support provided by Pakistan to those who have been affected by fires which broke out in Lattakia province last year, in addition to the support which it has provided to Syria for combating the novel coronavirus pandemic.
