Daraa, SANA- Daraa Agriculture Directorate has formed a 24-hour operation room and put its cadres in the province on alert to monitor any locust swarms.
Director of Daraa Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Abdel Fattah al- Rahal, said in a statement to SANA, that after arrival of groups of locust to the southeast of Sweida and other neighboring countries, the Directorate has put all its cadres on alert.
Al-Rahal added that the Directorate has also instructed its departments and unites to conduct searches and investigation about any arrival of locust swarms.
He noted that it has been formed a 24-hour operation room in Daraa Agriculture Department, in addition to forming a spray and combating teams, providing suitable pesticides, ensuring readiness of the available countering mechanisms, and installing sprinklers over 4WD vehicles in preparation for intervention, if necessary.
