Syria Trust for Development made international arbitrator in the ICICH

Damascus, SANA – The Syria Trust for Development was named an international arbitrator in the evaluation committee of the International Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICICH).

The Trust will be a member for two years in the evaluation committee alongside Japan, Portugal, Venezuela, Burkina Faso, Morocco, Serbia, and five other NGOs from Netherlands, Ireland, Brazil, China, and Uganda.

In the context of the ICICH, an international arbitrator evaluates nominees for being listed on the lists of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage, in addition to approving requests for financial support for the nominations.

The Trust, which is representing the Arab group which was created during the 9th meeting of the ICICH held on November 24-28 in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, earned its membership due to its efforts to preserve cultural heritage on the ground in Syria and its project for education, social empowerment, culture, and volunteer work.

The Syria Trust for Development is an NGO that supports and sponsors social initiatives via partnerships with civil society organizations and individuals, focusing on development and social issues and working to promote business pioneering and volunteer work.
