Lattakia, SANA- In cooperation with the National Office of Erasmus Plus Program in Syria, Tishreen University on Tuesday held a seminar on the program and the opportunities it provides for students of higher education, master and Ph.D. and for those who work in this domain.
Erasmus Plus is a program for teaching, training, youth and sport, and it was launched by the European Union in 2014 and it is scheduled to end in 2020.
National Director of Erasmus Plus in Syria Dr. Rami al-Ayoubi said the program mainly seeks to enhance cooperation with European universities in the domain of higher education and to consolidate the understanding among cultures through academic cooperation.
Al-Ayoubi indicated that the carried out projects have contributed to meeting the national priorities of higher education in Syria through establishing new projects at the institutions and developing the current curriculum, in addition to implementing dynamic rules in a way that would meet the social needs and the local market.
For his part, Rector of Tishreen University Hani Shaaban called for enhancing relations with other universities and benefiting from the scientific experiences to exchange ideas and research.
Shaaban called for setting new visions for academic work and scientific research and new budgets for scholarships, in addition to increasing the lecturers’ salaries.
The program provides international opportunities for higher education institutions and it encourages teaching and research in the domains of European studies and the projects of building institutional capacities.
