Syria, Cambodia discuss parliamentary relations, combating terrorism

Lahore, SANA – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham reviewed with Vice President of Cambodian National Assembly Nguon Nhel the situation in Syria and means of combating the regional and western backed-terrorism targeting Syria.

Both sides, during their meeting on Monday on the sidelines of the 7th plenary of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) currently held in Lahore, stressed the necessity of developing bilateral relations, particularly in parliamentary domain and enhancing coordination on the regional and international levels.

” Only the Syrian people have the right to decide what they want as long as the president and the parliament are directly elected by the Syrian people, therefore no one has the right to interfere in Syria’s internal affairs,” Nhel said.

He emphasized that no party in the world has right to interfere in the internal affairs of a sovereign country.

The Syrian delegation participated in the 2nd meeting of the Executive Council of the APA. The meeting discussed the agenda of the 7th plenary of the APA related to cooperation among the Asian countries, condemnation of terrorism and extremism and the political development and energy.
