Damascus, SANA- Director General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) ,Dr. Naser al-Din al-Obaid, affirmed the center’s determination to activate coordination with Syria in the domains of agriculture and agricultural researches, referring to the great support provided by Syria to the organization, like maintaining the infrastructure and the lands for the applied scientific and research stations in addition to the experts.
In a statement to SANA, Dr. al-Obaid, the newly-appointed to manage ACSAD in Syria, said that he seeks to develop the work of the organization and to open new horizons to it, noting that despite the difficult conditions that the Arab area has been facing, the organization has managed to carry out its plans and programs as well as to develop its infrastructure and its research stations.
He clarified that ACSAD concentrates on the important researches for the Arab states, mainly, upgrading the efficiency of irrigation methods and reducing waste of its water in addition to implementing important researches in the domains of the desertification and preserving grazing lands and improving their situation to secure the feed resources for the livestock, especially for sheep, goats and camels.
ACSAD center was established in 1968 in Damascus and it is an Arab specialized organization that works in the framework of the League of Arab States with the aim of promoting the scientific agricultural research in the dry and semi-dry zones.
