Geneva, SANA-The United Nations’ Human Rights Council condemned the racist and violent method of the US police that killed George Floyd in a Minneapolis city last month, and asking for making a report about “organized racism” against citizens of African origins.
Reuters said that the Geneva-based council that includes 47 members unanimously approved a resolution, which was submitted by African countries, charging the United Nations’ High Commissioner for Human Rights bureau Michel Bachelet to consider the government response to peaceful protests, including excessive use of force, and to provide the results of the report within a year.
For their part, international human rights’ organizations revealed that pressure was exerted by Washington to adopt the resolution which condemns “systematic racism and security violence” without reference to the United States.
