Zurich, SANA- Athlete Maan Asaad of Syrian weightlifting team gained the gold medal in the World Weightlifting Challenge Cup currently held in Switzerland.
Asaad managed to lift 180 Kg in the snatch and 233 kg in the clean and jerk crossing his American and Chinese rivals.
This competition is a qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and acts as one of the six necessary competitions that can fulfill qualification.
Asaad, previously earned three golden medals in the first stage of the 2019 World Weightlifting Championship held in Pattaya, Thailand, last month and recorded new Syrian records by lifting 198 kg- snatch, 241 kg-clean and jerk and 430 kg-total.
