Syria, Algeria continue consultations

Algiers, SANA – Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly Mohamed Jihad al-Laham discussed on Tuesday with President of the Algerian Council of the Nation Abdelkhader Bensalah means for improving parliamentary cooperation and consultation between the two countries in international forums to serve Arab causes .

The two sides discussed the ways to develop cooperation and consolidate the Syrian-Algerian relations, with al-Laham praising Algeria’s firm position against interference in Syrian internal affairs and its calls for encouraging dialogue among Syrians.

In the same context, talks between al-Laham and Algerian Premier Abdelmalek Sellal concentrated on the latest developments in the region and bilateral relations.

During their meeting, Al-Laham and Sellal agreed to keep on dialogue and consultations, an Algerian cabinet statement said.

The two sides exchanged views on a number of issues related to the current situation on the regional and international levels, the statement added.

In a relevant context, al-Laham held talks with Algerian Minister of Relations with Parliament Mahi Khalil.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Relations with the Algerian Parliament said that Khalil expressed hope that Syria overcome its plight.

Al-Laham’s visit to Algeria came upon the invitation from his Algerian counterpart. The 4-day visit started on Monday.
