Iran opposes any Turkish aggression against Syrian territories

Tehran, SANA- Iranian Foreign Ministry affirmed that it opposes any Turkish aggression against the Syrian territories, asserting the necessity of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry affirmed that Iran expresses hope on laying the bases of peace and stability in Syria and the region after the latest US measure which was represented in declaring the withdrawal of US troops.

The statement expressed Iran’s worries over the possibility of the entrance of Turkish forces into the Syrian territories, indicating that this will lead to widespread material and human damage.

The Ministry noted that Tehran always affirms the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and it demands the implementation of Adana Agreement.

The statement added that the presence of the US military troops in Syria “is illegitimate”, indicating that Washington’s decision to end its occupation of the Syrian territories and to pull out its troops from Syria “is a measure that should have been taken much earlier.

The new American declaration on the withdrawal of the US occupation forces from the area on the Syrian borders with Turkey comes in framework of exchanging roles with the Turkish regime which is working again on launching aggression against the Syrian territories in al-Jazeera region.
