Vershinin underlines adherence to Syria’s unity, sovereignty  and territorial integrity

New York, SANA- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin reaffirmed the necessity of adhering to Syria’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity and of combating terrorism in it till eliminating it completely.

During a session of the Security Council on Syria on Monday, Vershinin called for supporting the work of the constitutional committee which is scheduled to start by the end of the next month and it will be owned By Syria without any foreign interference.

He affirmed the necessity of pushing forwards the political process in Syria based on the UN resolution No. 2254.

Vershinin also called upon the international community to unify efforts and work to support the political process and the Syrian-Syrian dialogue, indicating at the same time that the next meeting in the framework of Astana format on the crisis in Syria will be held “soon” at the Kazakh capital city of Nur-Sultan.

During the Security Council’s session, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari said that forming the constitutional committee and agreeing on the references and the bases of its work which are owned and led by Syria away from any foreign interference is a national success that overcame all the obstacles put by the hostile states with the aim of prolonging the crises and hindering the political solution.
